One can utilize all types of materials to make functional design elements. For my living room I wanted an industrial look, so I went with metal as my core material. I was able to have a metal breakfast bar created for less than three thousand dollars.
Pillows, throw pillows are a great way to introduce noticeable accessories. Two simple cushions upholstered with the right style fabric will match the walls, drapes and other accessories in the room and give the decor that professional touch. Glass can include a number of accessories. The most common pieces are vases, and these can be found in thousands of styles, shapes, sizes and colors. But you can also find hand blown pieces good to hold fruit displays or other centerpieces.
Color Ideas: Outfitting your room with furnishings in a color similar to the wall color makes the space feel larger. Adding colorful and textured accessories creates a sense of breadth. Borrow space from an adjoining room by visually connecting the rooms with similar materials. Using one flooring material or wall color creates flow from room to room and makes your living room feel more spacious.
Wall hangings: Instead of having a blank wall screaming for something to be done with it, you could put up an African wall hanging which adds some beauty to your room while not being too intrusive. It makes for an effective visual aid and and will definitely distract people from the emptiness that a blank wall would present.
