The Middle Ages (1066-1485) used these enormous armchairs to the lord of the manors benefit when guests were invited over. With a comfortable backing and a place for his arms to rest its no secret why he preferred these over ones side chairs that had no arms. His fair lady would sit next to him in a side chair with all other guests facing away from the two on benches or stools.
Living room chairs are a good place to start if you are renewing your interior decorating but can not afford everything at once. Buy one or two chairs, then the couch, and so on, until your new living room is complete. Finish it up with pillows, throws, paintings or plants and your space will soon look like a professional designed it.
We can easily use this method with chairs as well. An arrangement of chairs in a large living room will definitely be used to balance the attention elsewhere and create another focal point. For example if the exit to patio has been overlooked an arrangement of even 4 chairs with a small coffee table will make the space look more used and balanced. In this way chairs do have a lot of "power" in decorating when used in groups and with creative arrangements. I hope this article has shown you the importance of chairs as a design element in living rooms.
Recliner chairs that come with a separate ottoman are best used as design accents, alongside other living room furniture, given their unique look that sets it apart from plush sofas and armchairs. While you can choose to select one that matches the other sofas or loveseats, choosing a recliner that mildly contrasts with the other furniture can serve to turn the piece into the rooms focal point. For example, if your sofa set is all white, choose a recliner and ottoman done in a bright splash of color to make it stand out and draw guests eyes towards the space.
